Jo Whiley stands as one of the most iconic voices in British Broadcasting, celebrated for her dynamic career and cherished as one of the nation’s favourite radio DJs. Hailing from Northampton, Jo’s journey into broadcasting began after studying in Brighton, where she initially showcased her passion for music on BBC Radio Sussex’s new music show. Her first major broadcasting role was as a presenter for WPFM, Radio 4’s youth culture and music show, marking the beginning of her illustrious career in the industry.

Jo's career trajectory soared as she transitioned into television, making waves as the band booker for Channel 4's groundbreaking show, 'The Word.' Responsible for introducing British audiences to seminal bands like Nirvana and Rage Against The Machine, Jo solidified her status as a tastemaker in the music scene. Her move to BBC Radio 1 in 1993 marked another milestone, where she co-presented 'The Evening Session' with Steve Lamacq before landing her own daytime show four years later.

In addition to her illustrious radio career, Jo's passion for music extends beyond the airwaves, as evidenced by her coverage of the Glastonbury Festival on various platforms. She also hosts music programs for Channel 4 and presents the 7-9 pm slot weekdays on BBC Radio 2, where her warm and engaging presence continues to captivate audiences.
